Loss of civilization, with gain of survival
The part of this book that impressed me the most was how these children who were once well mannered and trained in discipline, etiquette, and of course in being a human being, were now becoming less and less civil towards themselves and others. The kids started off scared, defenseless and virgins to such harsh conditions. As I read on the author just crept up behind with such dramatic and stomach turning situation such as this one which I have to say was the first, worst and my favorite scene. Simon who was one of the peace makers of the "pack" was lost in the woods after a big boar hunt he felt ill and dozed off. Around the time he awoke the kids back at camp were really shaken up because they thought there was some sort of monster in the forest. Roger who was filthy, tired and hungry crawled out of the wilderness the kids who were already worked up with the feast, the tribal dance and with the tension that had began to brew saw Simon and began to beat him savagely continuously until there own insecurities were finally secured. This part was the most emotional and dramatic part to the story. This made me feel realy awkward, confused and shocked. I saw that their civilization and every thing that they knew as right was no longer needed nor valued. Their so called humanity was slipping away and fast. The next very dramatic part in the story was when Piggy a stubby well mannered boy until the end (and I do mean until the end) was the one who really tried to put law and order on the Island. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was hit by a boulder and plunged to his death. His head was cracked open like a nut, the guilty didn't even take a second look. To them it was just a another thing. The water washed away his corpse just as it washed away Simon's. That particular part was very creative it made me really visualize it the way it was. It truly stunned me how visual it was. To sum this up The Lord of The Flies was a very interesting, well writen and described book. Golding is a wonderful and very descriptive writer. He has a talent that truly stunned me and caught my attention like no other writer could. I recommend this book to all people no mattter what your taste of books are.
